Rethinking Challenging Behaviours and the Implications of Autism Diagnosis

Foster parents and staff at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto often deal with children with behavioural issues but don’t always have the tools to recognize critical behavioural cues that may point to clients having ASD (autism spectrum disorder) symptoms.

In collaboration with the autism team, I designed a workshop guide that made light of the complex topic and built a rapport with the attendees; by incorporated humorous photographs of complex behaviours, the caregivers often face. Due to the complex content, I wanted to facilitate note-taking throughout the presentation by adding notes sections on the margins of the resource.
